Doris Virginia Survant (nee Carlson), 84, of Elgin passed away peacefully surrounded by her 4 children March 21, 2016. Doris was the beloved wife of the late Robert; loving mother of Laurie (Greg) Beaver, Susan (David) Trowbridge, Sallie (Joseph) Wiedemann, David (Denise) Survant and the late Jeffrey Survant; proud grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 4; cherished daughter of the late Ingvar and Helen Carlson; loving sister of Alice Carlson and Keith (Judy) Carlson.
Doris loved scrabble and bridge. In 2010 she ranked 40 out of 263 for total master points. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed entertaining, but family was most important to her. Doris worked at Barnett’s Clothing where she was a model and also the Elgin Watch Factory. She cooked and baked at the Gold Mine Cafe and worked several years at Visa First Card.
Celebration of life will be held Thursday March 24, 3:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 95 S. Gilbert Street (at State Street) South Elgin. The end of the evening will be open for sharing memories and reflections about Doris.
