Donna Long

Visitation for Donna M. Long (nee: Bavido), age 84, will be held on Sunday, April 8th from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd.,Streamwood, IL. Funeral Monday, April 9th 10:00 am at the funeral home to St. Marcelline Church in Schaumburg, IL.. for Mass at 11:00 am. Donna passed away peacefully in the arms of her family on Easter Sunday. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Donna was born and raised in Chicago. She served in the U. S. Navy, married and raised her family in Schaumburg where she resided for 50+ years. She then moved to assisted living in Janesville, WI near her daughter. Donna retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 20 years. She was a proud member of the Melodeers Sweet Adeline Chorus for 20+ years, and she was a founding member of St. Marcelline Catholic Church in Schaumburg. She was also a breast cancer survivor.
Donna was the loving mother to Brian (Carol) Long, and Maureen (Bob) Anderson. She was the best grandma to James (Jon Errico) Haluczak, Veronica (Seth) Engelson, Hannah Anderson and Robert Anderson Jr. She was the cherished sister of Audrey (the late Paul) Masciola, and the late Elaine (the late Bob) Melia. She was Aunty Donna Honey to many nieces and nephews. Donna was also a friend to all who met her. She had an infectious laugh and loved to tell a good joke. She had many talents, and in her later years became quite the artist.
Following Mass, cremation will be private at the Countryside Crematory.
