Donald E. Petges, 87 of Bloomingdale
Don was married to his beautiful bride, Beverly Kay, nee Guth, for 64 years. Their union produced four children, the late Pam, Jay (Nancy), Beth Yezek and David (Cheryl), five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Joy (late Ralph) Dahlquist. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Don was a kind, generous man and made friends wherever he went. He was a gentle, loyal friend and a dedicated husband and father.
He earned the rank of Lieutenant as a volunteer firefighter with Bloomingdale Fire Department for 38 years. He was also on the Board of Trustees for 13 years.
He was an active member of the Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539 for many years, having served in the US Army in Korea.
He loved bowling and playing golf and was an avid fisherman, mostly fishing in the Chippewa Flowage in Northern Wisconsin. He enjoyed watching the Cubs and Bears and he beamed when his teams won their respective championships.
Visitation Wednesday, June 7th, 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Countryside Funeral Home 333 S. Roselle Rd. (1/2 mile South of Irving Park Rd.) Roselle. Funeral service Thursday, June 8th, 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment Saint Paul Evergreen Cemetery 219 E Lake St, in Bloomingdale.
In lieu of flowers donations to VFW Post 7539, 101 Fairfield Way, Bloomingdale, IL 60108 would be appreciated.
