Donald O'Sullivan

May 22, 1928 — January 14, 2012

Donald A. O’Sullivan, 83, beloved and devoted husband of the late Geri (Poteracki), loving father of Michael (Anna), Stephen (Anna Marie), Kevin (Angie), and Mark (Julie), devoted grandfather of Shannon, Maureen, Ryan, Stepheni, Danny, Jamie, Kelli, Joshua, J.D., Jessica, Jenna, and Jeremiah; proud great-grandfather of Matthew, Haley, Lauren, Jacob, and Isiah; loving brother of the late Richard (Lorelei), loving brother-in-law to Patricia, Gene and Pat (Rich), loving uncle to many and friend to all.
Donald was born to Dave and Myrtle (Walther) in Chicago, attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier, served in the National Guard, proudly retired from the CTA, was a member of Knights of Columbus, and a loyal Cub fan. He enthusiastically took part in all his sons’ and grandchildren’s activities, serving as a Boy Scout troop leader for many years and basketball team driver (often stuffing the entire team into his 1969 Chevy), and was a positive, cheerful example of appreciating family. His Catholic faith, as well as his sense of humor, assisted him through difficult health issues. His smile and laugh were ever present. Donald was a good man who lived an honest life, showing respect to strangers and love to family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday January 17, 2012 from 3p.m. to 9p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 1640 S. Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.) Streamwood/Schaumburg. Funeral Wednesday 9:15 a.m. to St John Evangelist Church Mass 10:00a.m. Burial will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. (630)289-8054. Countrysidefuneralhomes.com
