Donald E. Mallette, 45, passed away peacefully on December 13th, 2025 after a courageous battle with Huntington’s disease, a journey he faced with unwavering positivity, strength, and grace. From the time of his diagnosis, he chose not to be defined by his limitations, but by the life he continued to live — fully, joyfully, and with deep appreciation for each and every day.Despite the challenges that came along with Huntington’s disease, Don always remained a constant source of optimism and encouragement to everyone around him. His resilience was matched only by his ability to find humor, gratitude, and light in even the most challenging of moments. He believed in making the most of what was possible, and he did exactly that — embracing life with determination, an open heart, and a love for food and hockey.A devoted Detroit Red Wings fan, Don found immense joy in cheering on his favorite team, having never missed a game. Win or lose, he cheered with passion and loyalty, proudly sporting his Red Wings gear and never passing on an opportunity to talk about his favorite team. The Red Wings were more than a pastime for Don, they were a source of excitement and comfort throughout his life.Above all, Don will always be remembered for his kindness, perseverance, and unshakable spirit. He taught those around him a powerful lesson: that even in the face of adversity, it is possible to live life with purpose, joy, and love.Don will be deeply missed by friends and family. Beloved son of Janice Radtke; loving brother of Kyle Radtke, Tina Guimon, and the late John Ireland; cherished grandson of Robert and the late Barbara Mallette; dear nephew of David Gorske, Daniel (Sherry) Gorske, and JoLynn (Dennis) Blume, and cousin to many. Cremation is private at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Don’s legacy at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Don’s memory to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America to support research, advocacy, and care for individuals and families affected by this disease.
