Theus Donald "Don" MacQueen, passed away October 30, 2022. Don was the beloved husband of the late Dr. Evelyn S. MacQueen; loving father of Pat (Kevin Collins) MacQueen and Rich (Sharon) MacQueen; proud grandfather of Joseph (Kelly Cerrone) Collins, Anna (Anthony Cole) MacQueen, Sarah MacQueen and Rachel MacQueen.
Don was born on January 21, 1932 in Dearborn, MI. Born into a military family, he spent his youth in Detroit, Philadelphia and Baton Rouge. He graduated from the University of Detroit and served in the Army Signal Corps in Tokyo, Japan. After a career in Public Relations, he retired in order to spend time with his grandchildren. Don was a true renaissance man. He was a voracious reader whose interests included theater, film, ballet, opera, and most of all, baseball. He loved baseball. Having grown up an avid Detroit Tiger fan, he long ago changed his allegiance to the Chicago White Sox and took great joy in their 2005 World Series victory. Above all, Don set the gold standard in being a grandfather. He adored his four grandchildren. He took enormous time and care in planning individualized activities and trips based on their unique personalities and interests. All these experiences included his great stories enhanced by his wicked sense of humor. His grandchildren are his great legacy. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial Mass will be held for Don Thursday, November 3, 12Noon at St. Walter Church 130 W Pine St, Roselle. In lieu of flowers donations to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater https://www.chicagoshakes.com/ would be appreciated.
