Dina Joan Crocilla

Dina Joan Crocilla, 49, of Bloomingdale, IL, passed away suddenly in the early morning of August 16, 2026, at her home due to cardiac arrest.
Born on June 16, 1977, in Park Ridge, IL, Dina was the beloved child of Josephine Latzko (nee Castle) and Jeffrey Latzko, she graduated from Streamwood High School and went on to build a successful career at Costco in various management positions over the last 13+ years.
Dina followed an early passion for photography, and from that point on, documented life with friends and family not only through still photography but also taking videos during the home video explosion in the 90s. She also was a successful wedding and portrait photographer on the side. Dina played softball at Streamwood High School as well as participated in gymnastics. She also loved her Chicago Cubs and old #23, Ryne Sandberg. She loved her family and was always the life of the party as a child into adulthood. When Dina and her husband Joe Crocilla welcomed their daughter Taylyr into the world, she became a proud mother of the first grandchild in the family, and she loved her “baby Tay” to no end. Dina was protective. She was supportive. She was loving. And she was always there for Taylyr. Dina and Joe, Taylyr’s father, may have eventually gone their separate ways, but they shared something far more important-a daughter they loved more than anything. Together they gave Taylyr the foundation that made her the strong young woman she is today. Dina was incredibly proud of her.
In the later chapter of her life, she found love again with Jason Laxner. Their relationship brought Dina happiness, companionship, and someone to share this part of the journey with. Jason became an important part of Dina’s life, and we are all grateful that she had someone beside her, who loved and cared for her.
Dina’s smile and laughter lit up any room she entered. She made friends so easily and touched so many lives that were spread amongst the many jobs she had over the years from Jewel, Bud’s, Meijer, Wolf Camera, Pete Miller’s Steakhouse, and the last 13+ years at Costco. Her world included so many people that will sorely miss her. Dina was one of a kind, and we all love her so much.
She lived loudly, loved fiercely, laughed easily, and made the people around her feel loved.
Dina also loved her dogs. So many dogs came through her life, Sonny, Crocket, Tubbs (yes Miami vice theme), Daisy, Apollo, Rocky (1) Sammy, Bailey, Rocky (2), they all had a place in her heart, and she loved them so much. There was no such thing as a dogless Dina.
Dina is survived by her cherished daughter Taylyr Crocilla, her beloved sister Jinene Basak (nee Latzko), Kris Basak, and aunt to their children Colton Basak and Madelin Basak, sister to her beloved brother Jeffrey Latzko and his wife Melissa Latzko (nee Johnson) and sister to her beloved brother Kevin Latzko. She is also survived by her grandmother Joan Castle, and so many aunts, uncles, and cousins that also loved her immensely.
Dina, we love you, we will miss you, and we will always have you in our hearts.
Visitation Friday August 28, 2026 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm with a wake service at 6:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd., Streamwood.
