Diane Lynn Kobes was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 26, 1946 to Betty M. Nelson and Lt. Col. William C. Thoma. Diane was beautiful, bold, intelligent, and very articulate and never feared speaking her mind or relating to all types of people. She read books voraciously and enjoyed going to the movies and dinner and she was the life of every party! After attending Elmira College, Diane worked part time in department stores and modeled and finally retired as a HR director of CBOE. Diane along with her family, were privileged to ski, camp, and travel throughout Europe and she even skied competitively as a teen. Diane married Cpt. Frank J. Kobes at West Point, NY near her home. After the war, Frank and Diane moved to Wheaton IL to raise two beautiful children, Col. Jean Kobes and Chuck Kobes. In addition to her children and ex-husband, Diane leaves behind two granddaughters Jessica and Frankie Henderson of Peyton, CO and a loving sister, Patricia Ivansheck and her three children, Amanda, Zachary and Alexandra. In addition, Diane leaves behind a step-sister, Patricia Strong and niece, Denise Schellinger, as well as several cousins and many close special friends such as Debbie Sajdak, Marie, Pam, Shirley, Silvia and Jeff, and Debbie A. A private service will take place in September at Buck Hill Falls, PA. Diane loved dogs and rescued and raised many of them, most important her beloved Boston terrier Boo Boo.
