Demetrios K. Angelopoulos, 90, of Elmhurst, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 with his family by his side in Florida. Demetrios came to the United States in 1961 with the goal to achieve the American dream. Through his hard work ethic and fierce determination he learned the language and become a successful restauranteur. He was an avid contributor to his community in Elmhurst, along with his church at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, and an active member for many decades with the Rotary club. During his retirement he loved spending time with his grandsons, fishing, and traveling to various parts of Europe enjoying the fruits of his labor. A loving husband, a committed father, and an inspiring “Pappou", his generosity and kindness left a legacy to be proud of. Beloved husband of 60 years to Josephine (nee Sturino); loving father of Patricia (William) Cimino, Constantine "Dino", and Nancy (Dan Fanelli) Angelopoulos; proud Pappou of Michael, Nicholas, and Anthony Cimino; dear brother of the late Yianoula Angelopoulos and the late Tom (Lena) Angelos; fond uncle and godfather of many. Visitation Sunday, February 19 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home 435 N. York St., Elmhurst. Family and friends will meet at 10:00am Monday for services at 10:30am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 893 Church Rd., Elmhurst. Interment Arlington Cemetery.
