He was dedicated to helping others, which was apparent in both his personal and professional life.
During his early life he lived in many places and made many friends along the way. He spent several years in Ohio, where he grew passionate about football, specifically The Ohio State Buckeyes (Go Bucks!). He played in high school and continued his connection with the sport by coaching his son’s youth team. He started his 8-year involvement with the Bartlett Raiders as an assistant coach, and proudly finished as the head coach of the 2011 Super Bowl champion team.
He began his career at Roper Technologies in 1978 before moving to California where he worked for QCI International. While employed with QCI he led a training seminar in Chicago, where he met the love of his life. He soon moved to Chicago, married Susan, and built a life with their dog Max, daughter Alex, and son Benjamin. In 2004 he was hired by WMS Gaming, which later merged with Scientific Games. He was first diagnosed with kidney cancer in the summer of 2014 & had his kidney removed two weeks later, at which point he was considered cancer-free. In 2016, he began working for Kohler in Wisconsin shortly before learning the cancer had spread to his lungs, classifying it as stage IV. He retired in 2022 so he could spend more time with family. Despite his valiant fight, he lost the battle on April 5th.
He will be in our hearts and thoughts forever.
