David Pate

David L. Pate, 80, of St. Charles, passed away on December 9, 2022. He was the cherished husband of 25.5 years to Elaine. David was a darling husband and generous to a fault. He would bring flowers to Elaine once a month for no reason at all.

David owned the business along with his brother. The family business was started in 1938 by the father. Even after he retired and the family closed the business, he worked relentlessly.

When he wasn’t working, he was still at work. David loved inventing things and fixing things. If he could not figure out a certain part to something, he would invent a new part so it would work properly. He even built their kitchen pantry and cupboards. David was an excellent wood worker.

At the end of a day, you could find him in his garage near his favorite cars, relaxing with a glass of red wine and some pistachios and watching NASCAR. David had a love for cars and racing.

David may have been a quiet individual but when he spoke people would listen. He was a friend to so many people and the world to his beloved. He will be missed by many.
