David M. Carlson, age 83, of Streamwood, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Born on April 9, 1943, raised in Laurium, Michigan, David lived a life defined by faith, service, love, and a steadfast devotion to those around him.
David proudly served his country in the United States Navy, demonstrating courage, dedication, and commitment to his fellow service members. Yet his service did not end when his military duty concluded. Throughout his life, David carried a servant’s heart, always willing to lend a helping hand, share his knowledge, or give his time to someone in need. Serving others was not simply something he did—it was a reflection of who he was.
To his family and all who knew him, David was a role model and teacher in the truest sense. He taught through his actions as much as his words, showing others the values of integrity, hard work, kindness, humility, and faithfulness. He believed in encouraging those around him and quietly invested in the lives of others, leaving a lasting impression on countless people.
David also found great joy in his love of ham radio, a passion that allowed him to connect with people near and far. Through the airwaves, he built friendships and shared his curiosity and enthusiasm with others, reflecting his lifelong love for community and connection.
Above all else, David’s greatest devotion was to God. His faith guided the way he lived, the way he loved, and the way he served. It was the foundation upon which he built his life and family, and his trust in God remained unwavering through every season. Those who knew David saw his faith not only in his words, but in the compassion, generosity, and grace he extended to others.
David is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 59 years, Joy; his cherished daughters, Sheri (Quinn) Newborn and Kristine Carlson; and grandchildren David (Alyssa), Gabriella (Aidan), Kristopher (Janae), Danny, Dylan, and Jenny, who brought immense joy and fulfillment to his life. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Skyler, Gabriel, Samuel, and Fjolla, whose presence filled his days with laughter and love. He is also remembered fondly by his siblings Ronald Juvingo, Jon Juvingo, Glenn Juvingo, and Lawrence Juvingo.
David’s life was one of quiet strength and unwavering love. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the faith he carried. Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that his life was a testimony of love, service, and devotion to God.
