Darrell Olesen

June 11, 1931 — October 5, 2023

Darrell D. Olesen, 92, formerly from the Elgin/Dundee IL area, passed away on Oct. 5, 2023. Darrell was born on June 11, 1931, in Elgin to the late Clarence and Bertha Olesen. He was a graduate of Elgin High School. Darrell married Marilyn Kleinschmidt on October 20, 1951 and they were happily together for 67 years before her passing in 2019. Darrell served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a workaholic and a “People Person!” He leaned on his strong Lutheran faith and served as a Deacon in his church for many years and was a member of the Dundee Lions Club. He had many interests and enjoyed his family and friends. Darrell was a master tradesman and owned a successful business for 40 years. Darrell and Marilyn retired to the Branson, MO area over 30 years ago.

Darrell leaves behind his loving daughters: Pamela (Pat) Covey, Janet (Rick Tripoli) Ritt, Nancy (Steve) Walters and Karen (Jeff) Dill. Beloved Grandchildren: Heather (Mike) Immel, Leslie Mowers, Jenny Covey, Emily Stakes, Ericka Dill, Kevin Covey and Kara (Dan) Allen; Cherished Great-Grandchildren: Nick, Evan, Wyatt, Blake, Lily, Brooke, Brady, Bentley and Aubrey; brother Lynn Olesen. Darrell was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, Grandson Jeremy Ritt and a sister Genevieve. A private cremation was held at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory in Bartlett, IL. A graveside service to inter both Darrell and Marilyn will be in May of 2024 at Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin, IL. Memorial donations can be made in Darrell's name to the charity of your choice.
