Daniel Kelly

June 3, 1932 — January 17, 2025

Daniel C. Kelly died Friday, January 17, 2025 at the age of 92. Born on June 3, 1932 in Chicago, Daniel was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran. After leaving the Marines, Daniel received a BA in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a MBA from the University of Chicago. That was followed by a long career as an accountant, retiring in 1997 as the CFO of the American College of Chest Physicians. Daniel loved traveling the world with his wife Josephine, who was a travel agent, riding his bicycle and watching the stocks. After moving around the country early in their marriage, Daniel and Josephine raised their four children in Buffalo Grove, Illinois before retiring in Tucson, Arizona. Daniel eventually moved back to Illinois in 2014 after his wife passed to be closer to family. He spent his final years at The Oaks, in Bartlett, where he enjoyed playing nickel bet poker with his friends. He will be missed by many. Beloved husband of the late Josephine; loving dad of Julia (James) Olsta, Timothy (Loree) Kelly, Christopher (Karen Sitz) Kelly and the late Michael (Melissa) Kelly; cherished grandpa of Kevin, Sean, Michael and the late Timothy and Celia; dear great grandpa of Timothy; kind son of the late John and Mary Kelly; fond brother of the late William, Thomas, John, Marian and David; and uncle to many. A memorial visitation will be at 9:30am until time of Mass 10:30am on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Sacred Heart Chapel at The Oaks, 827 Carillon Dr, Bartlett, IL. Cremation was held at the Countryside Crematory. Burial will be private at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org , would be appreciated by the family.
