Dalton Simmons

December 5, 1932 — May 29, 2024

Dalton Horace Simmons, 91, of Elgin, IL passed away on May 29, 2024. Dalton worked construction all of his life and well into his 80s. He worked part-time in the 60s at Sante Fe Speedway and worked as maintenance at Martha Washington Hospital. He loved to play horse shoes, winning several trophies. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents George Lee Simmons and Lera Mae Oliver Rodgers, and several sisters and brothers. He is survived by his loving sister Martha Jackson of Owensboro, KY; his loving children Marcia (Billy) Loggins of McDonough, GA, Danny Eugene Simmons of Byron, GA, Edie Gonzalez of Warner Robins, GA, Marie (Scott) Graves of Byron, GA, Arthur Simmons of Texas; Shawn (Jessy) Ring of Toomsboro, GA, and Ricky (Rosemary) Simmons of Idaho; loving and caring niece Laura Diane Ferguson and many other nieces and nephews; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren. Cremation will be held by Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory. Dalton’s final resting place will be in the Ramah Church Cemetery (beside his ex-wife Morea Mercer, who loved dearly) in Gordon, GA.
