Dale Gardner, 53, Roselle, died Saturday, May 15th after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Eileen, Roselle, his parents, Bill and Marilyn, Arlington Heights, his brother, John, his sister, Dianne, his brother Tom (Nancy), niece, Meghan Schnatchko, niece, Meredith Gletty, nephew Bill Gardner, niece Lauren Gletty and nephew Cash Gardner. . A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 11th at 6 pm with a meal to follow at Ventura 21 Clubhouse, 375-Ventura Club Drive, Roselle, Illinois 60172-1471. Dale was a lifelong resident of the Chicago suburbs, born and raised in Arlington Heights. He was a 1975 graduate of John Hersey High School; attended Triton College from 1976 to 1978 and attended Illinois State University from 1980-1981. Dale worked as a service technician for Talaris. Outside of work, Dale was a fearless adventurer, traveling the world with his wife Eileen, happiest when he was visiting new places like the ancient ruins of Rome or Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Dale was also proud to have visited all fifty of the United States, ending with an Alaskan cruise last year. Dale enjoyed a variety of hobbies including medieval sword-fighting, antique collecting and cooking. Best known for his gourmet ribs, Dale was the co-host of an annual Ribfest in which 125 pounds of ribs were prepared for more than 75 friends and neighbors. Dale’s delightful sense of humor, his strong, steady spirit and his generous nature made Dale friendships that lasted a lifetime. Although we will miss Dale, his friends and family take comfort in the memories of the good times we shared with him.
