Czarina Melo

Czarina B. Melo-Terlecky, 49, of Elgin, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022. Czarina was a generous and warm-hearted wife, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, co-worker, and friend.

Czarina was born in the Philippines on January 27, 1973 to Aurora and Cipriano Melo. Her twin sister, Carina Melo, was born just a few minutes before her and they were inseparable from then on. The youngest of 11 siblings and many cousins, growing up she was always looked after, protected, and loved many times over. She returned that love in being a protective, kind, fun and devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews.

Czarrie’s light shined brightly in moments when she could help other people which she was proud to do every day for 24 years as a lead technician surgical coordinator at University Ophthalmology Associates. She had the great fortune of supporting amazing doctors, working alongside dear friends, and helping thousands of patients over the years. The team at University Ophthalmology Associates was her second family, making memories big and small each day. She was also an avid animal supporter.

In December of 2014, Czarina was united in marriage to her great love, Maksym Terlecky. They completed each other, their love and deep mutual understanding will forever be special. The Terleckys enjoyed going on countless adventures, traveling the world, and marveling at nature’s great beaches--- their favorite place to visit was Aruba. Together they also became pet-parents, she adored and happily spoiled her little dogs Winston and Mila.

Czarrie deeply loved all of the family and friends that surrounded her. We are comforted in our countless memories of the fun and fond moments we shared with her, we are each blessed to have known her.

Czarina is survived by her husband Maksym Terlecky; her twin Carina Melo; siblings Cielito Melo (Lisa), Ceferino Melo (Catherine), Edith Woltman (Arthur), Carlos Melo (Siony), Crisostomo Melo (Maria Fidelis), Cecilio Melo (Hermie), Evelyn Dadale (Mhar), Elissa Melo, and Ellen Melo; nieces and nephews, Anthony Alcazar, Meghan Baeza (David), Jason Gutierrez, Nikko Dadale, Kevin Melo, Frances Melo, Acer Melo, Geo Melo (Claire), Gerome Melo, Huey Melo, Ronald Melo, Cyril Melo, Renz Melo, Cassandra Melo, and Reinier Melo; countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Aurora and Cipriano Melo, mother-in-law Lucy Terlecky, nephews Glen Melo and Ronnel Melo.

Visitation Friday, March 18 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.), Bartlett and also on Saturday from 9:30am until time of Mass 10:30am at Holy Family Catholic Church 2515 W. Palatine Rd., Inverness. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
