Claudia Weber (nee Umlauf), 85, of Streamwood, IL passed away on August 16th, 2024 at The Oaks at Algonquin surrounded by her family. Claudia was well-known as a lunch-mom at Heritage Elementary School, serving as the neighborhood safe-haven for those who needed a place to go, and for adoring children.
Claudia proceeded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Claire; her brothers, Aaron and Rudolph; her grandson, Benjamin.
Claudia is survived by her husband, Richard; her brothers, David and Gary; her children, Susan Weber Olson, Lisa Arion, Patrick Weber (Candace); her grandchildren, Jake, Nicole, Matthew, Zach, Nathan, Isaiah, Elijah, Noah, and Sam; her great-grandchildren, Mavryk, Maddy, and Cadence; along with many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Claudia was born in Chicago, IL on June 1st, 1939, to Rudolph and Claire Umlauf. She had four brothers, David (Kathy), Rudolph (Betty), Aaron (Dolores), and Gary (Karen). She lived in Bangor, MI as a young girl before moving back to Chicago as a teenager.
She met the love of her life, Richard Weber on a blind date at a bowling alley. They would marry in August 1960, have three children (and an honorary daughter, April Orr), ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. They moved to Streamwood, IL in 1969 and resided in the same home ever since. Their love for each other and their family continued over the 64 years they spent together.
Claudia had a love for children; Working for School District U-46 for 25 years, serving as a lunch-mom at Central Elementary and Heritage Elementary schools. She was a trusted confidant to thousands of children as she served with passion and enormous amounts of love for everyone of which she crossed paths.
Claudia was involved with a variety of community groups including Bunco Club, Cub Scouts, Girl and Boy Scouts, Cheerleading for Streamwood’s youth football teams, and various bowling leagues. She was also a parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church.
She had many interests including arts and crafts, ceramics, painting, gardening, cleaning, reading (especially Stephen King), singing and dancing, and anything that would make her laugh. She also had a profound love for animals, having several dogs and other pets over the years.
Claudia and Richard were world-travelers, visiting countless countries and nearly the entire United States. These trips often included their children and grandchildren, sharing in the excitement with future generations.
Their life-long home in Streamwood was a staple in the neighborhood. Whether it be parties, summers in the pool, crafts and snacks on the front porch, or just a fun place to spend time. Claudia was also known for her whistle, which could be heard down the block. As family and friends came running up the street, she would follow it up with her amazing yodel. She truly was a person with many talents.
Claudia spent much of her time attending concerts, sports games, musicals, graduations and going-on’s with her large family. She would spend countless hours cooking for holidays, and bake special cakes for the many birthdays that were celebrated.
Claudia loved deeply and passionately to anyone that needed it. She had a natural caring and nurturing personality, leaving a mark on so many lives. But most of all, she taught her family what it meant to love someone unconditionally and with one’s entire self, as she did with her husband. Claudia’s legacy will live on through her family and those touched by her. She will be deeply missed by so many.
