Clara Arnold

October 13, 1932 — April 24, 2022

Clara Amanda Arnold, born October 13, 1932 in Los Angeles, California, resident of Schaumburg, Illinois for over 50 years, passed away on April 24, 2022 after a courageous 5 year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Clara was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and husband of 64 years, Stanley Arnold, her parents Wallace and Esther MacDonald Maurer and her sister Catherine Maurer Burlingame.

She is survived by her loving children Sharon (Marian) Carling of Schaumburg, Daniel (Joyce) Arnold of Petersburg, NJ, and Virginia Cannes of Palatine. She is also survived by her devoted grandchildren Stacy (Eric) Ogilvie, Daniel Brod, Amanda (Thomas) Le, Erick Cannes, S. Marie Cannes and Colleen (Cameron) Aanonsen. Also surviving Clara are her beloved great-grandchildren, Clara and Clark Le and Aubree Aanonsen. She is also survived by a special niece, Michelle Marlow.

Clara was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years, the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Streamwood, IL for over 30 years and was the first president of the Spring Valley Nature Club in Schaumburg. She held a degree in history and languages from Northeastern Illinois University. Clara also belonged to numerous genealogy organizations and traveled widely researching her family roots.

Graveside services May 2, 2022 meet at 2:00pm at Evergreen Cemetery, 610 South Dundee Ave., Barrington, IL. At Clara’s request there will be no viewing or visitation.

Please donate to your local food pantry in lieu of flowers to honor the many hours Clara spent helping to feed the hungry.

The family wishes to thank The Pearl of Rolling Meadows and Journeycare Hospice for their loving care of Clara these past two months. We are also especially grateful to Clara’s daughter-in-law, Marian, for her kind and gentle care.
