Christine Blodgett, 75, of Bartlett, formerly Palatine died Sunday, November 10, 2024. Born August 19, 1949, in Chicago and grew up in Bridgeport with her parents and sister.
Chris was a strong woman with many talents and a lifelong love of learning. She was a career woman, retiring from Amtrak as an Executive Assistant, prior she was a Vice President of Operations at JP Morgan Chase where she had climbed the corporate ladder starting as a secretary for a small title company in the 80's. She was so much more than a business woman, wife and mother. She was a long time belly dancer and an exceptionally talented painter in many mediums, her favorite being watercolors. During her younger years Chris sewed many of her own trendy clothes and continued to be a talen ted seamstress creating her daughters’ Halloween costumes for many years. She loved to craft with her daughter Jackie, attending many library events to create everything from wreaths to flower arrangements. In her later years she was learning to play the drums, as music was always a love of hers. Chris was an avid reader, consuming multiple books at one time. She was a skilled mixologist and a card shark when it came to 500 rummy. Chris loved a nice drink as well as a bowl of ice cream passing down her love of a good sugary snack. She loved Christmas and decorating for the holiday, no Christmas tree was decorated until not a speck of green could be seen. She loved to laugh, loved to smile and always tried to be kind. She loved to travel, to any beach, any city, she was always ready to go on an adventure. Her favorite destinations were Disney World and EPCOT. She and her husband, Jim, went the opening year, and she went back many more times, every opportunity she took to go back and experience the magic. Jim and Chris spent many days enjoying the flowers around their home and they enjoyed spending time together at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
Chris was predeceased by her father and mother, Walter and Jeannette Shipinski (Konieczny), and her sister Marian Kovacs.
She w ill be greatly missed by her family. Her husband James of 55 years, daughters Jackie (Robert) Meyer and Elaine (Dave) McDevitt.
She was a beloved auntie to Michelle Kovacs, John Kovacs and Melissa Kenyon. She also adored her great nieces and nephews, Asher, Ava, Gracie, Hank and Micah. Cherished by many cats, but Monty, the last, will miss her greatly.
Memorial visitation 9:30am until time of memorial mass 10:30am on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Sacred Heart Chapel at the Oaks, 827 Carillon Dr, Bartlett. Cremation was private at the Countryside crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Chicago Botanic Garden, https://www.chicagobotanic.org/ , would be appreciated.
