Charlotte Lorkowski

August 5, 1921 — January 9, 2018

Charlotte L. Lorkowski (nee Moennich) age 96 of Ladysmith, Wisconsin, formerly Schaumburg, passed peacefully into eternal life on January 9, 2018.
Charlotte was born August 5, 1921 in Chicago to Frederick and Ann Moennich. She was the youngest of six children, two brothers and three sisters who are all deceased. At the age of 17, Charlotte was a Square Dancer on the WLS Radio Barn Dance. She married Sylvester Lorkowski on Thanksgiving Day in Nov. 1940 and had been married for 44 years when Sylvester passed away in 1984. Charlotte was the mother of two sons, Michael S. (Joanne) and Robert (Barbara), grandmother of Michael J. (fiancé, Lexi) and the late Mark and great grandmother of Mackenzie and Jacob.
Charlotte was a bookkeeper and became a house wife in 1946 with the birth of her first son, Michael. She was a Den Mother and Scout Leader for her two sons and many other boys of Pack 3969, Indian Boundary District Chicago Council from 1955 to 1962. While living in Chicago and Phoenix Az. for 10 years she was a master crafter in sewing, especially wool shirts, ceramics and art which continued her whole life. After moving back to Schaumburg IL. in 1982 she enjoyed being back with her old friends, some since grammar school. After the death of her husband she joined the St Marcelline Seniors Group, in Schaumburg IL., where she was a past president for 4 terms and a master trip planner for the senior group for 14 years. Charlotte was always very active and with a group of her ladies friends travelled though out the United States, Asia and Europe. She always loved a good card game with her friends and a good book to read and a Brandy Manhatten every evening.
After being unable to drive and getting around in Schaumburg, Charlotte relocated to Ladysmith Care Community assisted living apartments in Ladysmith WI. where she received excellent care. While residing there she made many new friends and was a member of the resident council. She was active in the activities offered and cards. Her craft and sewing work even won several Blue ribbons and awards at the Rusk County Fair. Charlotte was also happy that she was once again able to attend Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, no matter how cold it was.
A Memorial Mass and visitation was held at The Ladysmith Care Community Cameo Room on Tuesday Jan. 16th, with Fr. Inna saying the Mass.
