In Loving Memory of Charletta May Harper
January 6, 1950 - May 29, 2025
A life well lived, a laugh well earned. Our fierce, funny, and loved matriarch, Charletta May Harper, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at the age of 75.
Charletta was a lot of things - a loving wife, a devoted mom, a doting grandma and great- grandma, as well as a loyal-sister - but above all else, she was a spitfire. The kind of women who didn’t just walk into a room, she arrived. She spoke her mind, loved with her whole heart, and could reduce you to tears from - her laughter or sass, depending on the day.
She leaves behind her ever-patient, ever-loving husband David, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and a whole lifetime of stories.
She was the proud mother of Paula (Mark) and Tom (Sherri), two strong souls shaped by her strength. Her granddaughters- Amanda, Kori and Heather were the light of her life, along with her great grand children.
Charletta was one of several siblings, growing up in that family meant you learned to be loud, fast, and funny- or get left behind. She is survived by her sisters Nancy, Cindy, Debbie, and Tommye Jo and predeceased by Vivian, Michael and Virgil, who surely welcomed her into the next world with open arms and a well-timed wisecrack.
She loved good food, good gossip, and good company. Let’s not forget the regular visit to the river boat to gamble! She was known to kill any houseplant that crossed her path but could make a whole room come alive with a one-liner. She taught us to laugh through the hard stuff and to love loudly!
A celebration of Charletta’s life will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm with a service at 5:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 950 S. Bartlett Rd., Bartlett, IL 60103. Cremation will be private. Info
