Charles Scott

August 1, 1936 — September 19, 2024

Charles Scott, age 88, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024. Charles, better known to friends and family as “Chuck”, lived a life full of love and kindness. He was known for his sharp, often dark sense of humor, generous spirit, his love of sports, and unwavering loyalty to family and friends. Throughout his long life, Charles touched many lives with his warmth.

Born on August 1,1936 in Chicago, Il, to Lillian and Charles Scott Sr., Chuck was raised in Berwyn where he attended Morton High School. Chuck went on to Northwestern University, and then continued his education at Loyola University where he pursued his Masters’ degree. After school, he was hired at Western Electric where he worked for the duration of his career (under various company names—AT&T, Lucent, etc). It was there that he met the love of his life, Jacksene (Jackie), who he would marry and create the most important thing to him—his family. They would move to Downers Grove in 1969 where they would live until 2022, when his Parkinson’s Disease required him to need assistance and at that time he and Jackie moved to The Oaks in Bartlett, Il.

Charles is survived by Jackie, his wife of 67 years; their 2 daughters, Dawn Davis and Lori (Brad) Hollands; 2 granddaughters, Christine (Christine Marovich) Davis, and Stacy (Chad) Dahlman; and his 2 great granddaughters, Maggie and Olivia Dahlman.

He was a man surrounded by women and a constant champion for women, especially in sports. While he was an avid Cub and Northwestern University fan, his true passion was women’s sports. Chuck coached softball until he physically was unable to, and even then, he attended as many softball (and volleyball and basketball) games as he could.

Per his wishes, no services will be held. Instead, he would probably tell you use your time to get your oil changed, or go watch a game, or hang out with your family, but do not wallow around being sad over him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Charles Scott's passing marks the end of a life well-lived, but his memory will remain eternal in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
