Charles “Chuck” F. Broaddus, 90, of Huntley, peacefully passed away on January 26, 2023.
Born on September 13, 1932 in Springfield, IL to Jeremiah M. and Stella P. (Née Gray) Broaddus. Chuck was one of 13 children. Chuck lost his mother at a young age and grew up in foster care in South Jacksonville, IL with Charles and Mary Nichols.
Chuck graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1952 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Lake Champlain before being honorably discharged.
Chuck married the love of his life, Geneva Rhodes, and was a devout Christian and a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father of three children. Chuck put the Lord and family first, and was a dedicated brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Chuck provided for his family as a machinist. After retirement, Chuck drove a school bus for the Elgin School district (U-46) and for the Boaz school district in Alabama.
Chuck was passionate about bicycling to raise money for charities, his Honda Gold Wing, his golf cart, helping neighbors, dedicating time to his church, and the family pets, especially Sadie, who was often referred to, by his daughters as his favorite daughter.
Charles was predeceased by his parents Jeremiah and Stella Broaddus, his foster parents Charles and Mary Nichols, his son Terry Broaddus, his daughter Donna Broaddus, and all of his siblings. He leaves behind his wife Geneva Broaddus, daughter Barbara (Timothy) Calvin, daughter in law Vicki Broaddus, granddaughters Jennifer (Moises) Calvin, Alyse (Nicholas) Deckmann, great-grandchildren Holley Calvin-Garcia, Moises Calvin-Garcia, Connor Calvin-Garcia, Noah Garcia, Jaden Deckmann, and Savannah Deckmann.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jessica Kerwin for her care and love during Chuck's health decline.
