In Loving Memory of Casimer W. Grendzinski
March 4, 1926 - August 10, 2023
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Casey Grendzinski, at the age of 97.
Casey was the second of six children born to Alex and Jennie (Losiewicz) Grendzinski in Thorp, Wisconsin. As the eldest son, Casey spent his early years attending school and working with his father on the family farm. He was assigned his first cow to milk at the age of 7 and was known as the family skinner. He attended Sunny Lawn school in Withee Township and graduated from Thorp High School, class of 1944. Throughout his life, he looked forward to the annual Thorp class reunions, visiting his home turf and catching up with family and friends.
Casey’s obsession with airplanes led him to enlist in the Air Force in 1946. He served as a weather observer and technician in occupied Japan, igniting his interest in clouds and weather, which persisted throughout his life. Following his three year stint in the military, he relocated to Chicago where he met Trudy Koziol, who became his loving wife of 65 years. While raising his family, Casey spent 33 years working as an electrician with Metro Electric, utilizing the hard work ethic he learned on the farm. Casey and Trudy retired to Tempe, Arizona in 1996, where they lived until Trudy’s death in 2017.
Casey’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry, sister Josephine (Ed) Bauer, and brothers Leonard (Betty), Bernard, and Alex Jr. (Hilda). He is survived by his brother Thomas (Kathie) and children Susan (Sal) Lazzara, Sharon (Jim) Dunn, and John (Christine), his twelve grandchildren Michelle Grendzinski, Michael (Heather) Grendzinski, Richard Grendzinski, Tom (Dru) Lazzara, Casey Lazzara, Daniel Lazzara, Jennifer (John) Moran, Cheryl (Peter) McNally, Allison Grendzinski, Katrina Grendzinski, Matthew Grendzinski and Joey Grendzinski, and his twelve great-grandchildren, Taylor Grendzinski, Delaney Grendzinski, Alex Lazzara, Zach Lazzara, Hannah Lazzara, Emersyn Lazzara, Kennedy Lazzara, Makinley Lazzara, Adelynn Lazzara, Danny Lazzara, Gunner McNally and Parker McNally.
