Caroline Ann (Barbeau) Carlson passed away peacefully surrounded by family on 8/27//2025 after a decade long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Although her memory slipped a little more each day, her sparkle, sweet personality and sharp sense of humor always shined through. Her greatest joy was her family and she really lit up when they visited especially when the grand and great-grandchildren stopped by.
Caroline’s 89 years were spent raising, caring for and treasuring a family with her loving William (“Bill”) husband of 67 years A family she was the heart of. Making a home where everyone was welcome, any time. She would entertain neighbors, friends and family and make every occasion together a celebration. Caroline was a talented and crafty person, an incredible cook and baker. There was always something homemade and delicious in the cookie jar. Dinner was on the table at 5:00 every night, right up to her last years at home and an extra plate could always be set if you stopped by. Caroline truly enjoyed being a stay-at-home wife and mother, feeling it both a privilege and blessing to be one. She was a dedicated, supportive wife to Bill, making sure his work clothes were ironed and lunch packed no matter what shift he worked. By his side every day in every way. You rarely saw her without Bill or vice versa. Caroline was the most selfless, caring and giving of mothers who would do anything for her children and grandchildren. Offering support, advice, humor, a cup of coffee or her signature grilled cheese, along with the best hugs whenever needed. On your birthday a very off key, early morning rendition of “happy birthday” that was the best present you could get.
Caroline wasn’t just the sweetest woman, but a tough lady whos strength carried herself and many others through the toughest of times. Her mere presence could comfort you, and will be deeply missed. She will be remembered with a smile, and a laugh, forever by those who knew and loved her. She was truly the “GOAT”. The best wife, mother and grandmother who set the most incredible example for generations of us to follow. Being able to include Caroline in your life story was a gift you treasure forever.
Caroline was preceded in death by William (Bill) Carlson, her beloved husband of 67 years. Her parents Walter and Victoria (Jablonski) Barbeau, her brothers William, Eugene (Sue) and Edward (Marianne) Barbeau. Her sisters Lois (John) Sims and Delores Barbeau.
