Carol Crain

November 14, 1929 — January 15, 2017

Carol Jean Crain, 86, of Hanover Park for 53 years, died Sunday, January 15, 2017. Born November 14, 1930 in Oak Park. She was the daughter of James and Esther (nee Larsen) Des Rochers. On October 4, 1952, she married the late Richard Ray Crain and resided in Chicago until they moved to Hanover Park in 1962 where they lived with her late twin sister Audrey and her late husband David Guy. There they raised 7 boys together: Richard (Lawanda), Timothy (June), Philip (Sandy) Crain along with David (Kimberly), Larry (Kathy), Peter, and the late Jeffery Guy. They often gave their mothers more trouble than they could handle but it was a home full of love and devotion. Her passing is being mourned by grandchildren Nicholas, Chris (Aom), Heather (Scott) Valdez, Stephanie (Jeremy) Stephens, James and Michael, Great-grandchildren Damien, Draven and Lilyanna. Those left behind have taken strength in the knowledge that the loved ones that went before her, including her brother Don (Ann) and sister Virginia “Peaches” (Howard) Carlson, and of course Audrey were there in the end to lead her home. Carol was a member of St. Ansgar parish since its inception in 1968 where she was a Eucharistic Minister as well as a teacher for 4th grade religious education. In addition to raising her family, Carol spent hours volunteering for many different organizations in Hanover Park as well as St. Alexius Hospital. Faith, family and her community were always her priorities. The celebration of Carol’s life will take place at the Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. in Streamwood, IL on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 3pm to 9pm. On Friday at 8:45am, final prayers will be said at the funeral home before the procession to St. Ansgar Catholic Church in Hanover Park for the 9:30am, Mass of Christian Burial. Interment All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alexian Brothers Hospice or the church would be appreciated. 630-289-8054 or www.countrysidefuneralhomes.com
