Candice was born January 11, 1953, in Westfield, Massachusetts, and passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023, with her sister Pam by her side. She was employed by Digital Equipment Corp. for 20 years, and then by Westfield State College in the Cafeteria for 15 years. Mom, Daddy, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, the members of First Congregational Church in Westfield were all an important part of her life. Candy moved to Illinois in 2013 and became a member of the First Congregational Church of Geneva. Throughout her life she made many friends. Wherever we would go there would always be someone she knew. She loved family gatherings, and travelling to visit her sisters and their families. Candy loved to volunteer wherever she was needed. Candy remembered everyone’s anniversary and birthday (including their age). She would mail cards for those special occasions along with baby arrivals and sympathy cards. Writing notes to loved ones and bowling were a couple of her hobbies. She had been on many bowling leagues while in Westfield – she could really whip the ball!! Candy was an avid reader, and also loved word search books. Skip Bo, Rummikub, Uno and cards were some of her favorite games. She also found much enjoyment out of listening to her large collection of music, playing Bingo, watching one of her many movies or watching one of her favorite TV shows – Wheel of Fortune, The Golden Girls or the Hallmark channel.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Gayle Johnson of South Riding, VA, and Pamela Kozlowski of Huntley, IL, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Her friend of many years Barbie Jones of East Longmeadow, MA, also survives her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Congregational Church of Geneva,
327 Hamilton Street (corner of Fourth Street), Geneva, IL, on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon in Fellowship Hall, lower level, from 11:00 to 1:00.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Candy, to the American Red Cross or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
