Brijmohan Agrawal loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away December 14, 2020 at the age of 82.

Brijmohan was born in November 1938 in Ramnagar, UP, India to Ramnarayan and Satyawati Agrawal. He was a proud graduate of Chandigarh University, Chandigarh, where he received a BS in Pharmacy. On November 21, 1965, he married the love of his life, Sushma Agarwal. In February, 1975, he came to the U.S.A. to pursue the American Dream for his young family, landing first in New York City and eventually settling in Chicago. Brijmohan worked as a lab chemist supervisor at Shedd Foods in downtown Elgin, a subsidiary of Unilever Corp, where they produced such iconic brands as I CAN’T BELIEVE ITS NOT BUTTER margarine.

In his retirement, Brij enjoyed spending time with his family, tracking and tabulating numerical facts in countless notebooks and watching Indian serials. He was passionate about U.S. and Indian politics and could talk for hours about his childhood days in India. He also loved yoga, reading the daily paper, and organizing offering meaningful wisdom and advice to family and friends. He was a life member of Hari Om Mandir in Medinah, IL. His love of travel took him and his family on road trips to Washington DC, California, Florida, The Great Smoky Mountains, Alaska, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Turkey and extensively over India. By all accounts, Brij achieved the American Dream for his family and future generations.

He is survived by his wife, Sushma; his children, Ratna, Deepak, and daughter-in-law Swati; his grandsons, Rajan and Ved and his granddaughters, Priya, Anushka and Diya; his siblings and their spouses, children, and grandchildren; numerous siblings on his wife’s side, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a tight-knit community of chosen family members in the Chicago and New Jersey area, all of whom loved him dearly.

The family will host a celebration of Brij life as soon as it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, Brij would have loved support for his favorite organizations, including Hari Om Mandir (Medinah, Illinois), ISKCON (https://www.iskconchicago.com/give/), Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org), and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (www.ipffoundation.org).

We pray to almighty God to keep Brij safe and happy for eternity and to give strength to his family to bear this enormous loss.
