Brian K. Hyzy died peacefully at home on December 7, 2022 in Lisle, IL at the age of 61 (after a valiant battle with cancer).
Brian is survived by his children Laura (Daniel) Andrzejuk, Mark Hyzy, and Sarah Hyzy; his grandson Jonathan Andrzejuk, his sister Patricia (John) Davies, former spouse Patti Hyzy, one aunt and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Josephine Hyzy, his grandparents, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Brian was born on February 1, 1961 in Oak Park, Illinois to Joseph and Josephine Hyzy. He grew up in Des Plaines and later graduated from Illinois State University in 1983 with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He married Patti Borchardt in 1985. They finally set their roots in Bartlett, IL. He began working first for Hammacher Schlemmer as an accountant, and then moved to Personal Creations as VP of Finance. The couple welcomed 3 children into their home. He is remembered by his family as being a fighter. His children remember him as a kind and patient father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Brian loved taking his Harley all around the country, including countless charity rides. He was an 80’s rock music fan, especially Aerosmith, and enjoyed attending concerts with his friends. He loved all Chicago sports, and made sure to take each of his kids to their first Cubs game. Brian was very passionate about traveling, investing, and maintaining his tropical aquarium.
During his battle with cancer, which lasted over 5 years, he was driven to help people. He made many contacts through the AnCan virtual support group with newly diagnosed cancer patients, trying to help them through the process, and he even became a mentor through Imerman Angels. Even towards the end, he was still participating in an animal rescue program, with relocation from one part of the state to many shelters in the Chicago suburbs.
