Betty Davis

April 13, 1931 — January 16, 2018

Betty E Davis, of Elburn formally of Lexington Nebraska passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 16, 2018 after a long a brave battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Betty was the loving mother of Rainy (Duane) Hoffmaster and Jackie (Donny) Walsh; beloved Granny of Kylee, Jake (Danielle) Hoffmaster, Codi Saunders, Jen Walsh, Donnie Walsh, Tanner Saunders, Patrick Walsh, and Franki Walsh. Great Grandma (Gaga) of Chayden Hoffmaster; dear sister of the late Joe (Valerie) Drakely, Ellen (John) Evans, Bobbie (Ron) Rhodes.
Betty will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, friends, and relatives and all of “Bet’s Kids” whom she took in, loved and cared for over the years as if they were her own.
Betty was born in Canada but spent most of her childhood in England. A child during WW2 she married and eventually came to America. The family lived in Chicago and finally landed in Streamwood Illinois. One of her proudest moments was when she became a United States citizen on September 24, 1993.
Betty was one of the most kind hearted and generous people. She loved having her house full and even though she never had much, she always had enough for one more.
She also firmly believed that there was nothing that could not be fixed or at least made better by a hot cup of tea. When anyone showed up at her door, she would say, “Come in, sit down, I’ll put the kettle on.”
Besides being a mother, being a grandma was her greatest joy. She was known as Granny by the second generation of children that came with her grandchildren. She was a story book grandma and completely adored and doted on her grandkids.
Betty was a huge animal lover and advocate and a frequent ASPCA contributor.
Heaven is shining a litter brighter since her arrival.
