Beryl Stahnke

Beryl Bonner Stahnke, 97, of Schaumburg passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
Beryl was born on August 15, 1925 to Leslie and Faye Bonner on their family farm, the Bonnie Brae Farm in Millburn, Illinois and this is where she grew up with her older sister, Geraldine, and older brother, Lyman. One of the big events Beryl experienced growing up was living on one of the first farms in the area to be totally electrified. After graduation from Warren Township High School, she attended the University of Illinois where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Spanish, but more importantly, she met her future husband, Vernon Stahnke, who was also attending U of I on the GI bill after WWII.
After marrying, they had 4 daughters and spent the last 50 + years living in their family home in Schaumburg.
Beryl was an avid gardener and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She especially found great joy in giving her family humorous and elaborate birthday cards.
Beryl was a beloved wife for almost 75 years to Vernon E. Stahnke; loving mother of Jill (the late Robert) Fisher, Gwen Stahnke, Sue (Ed) Liebenthal and Kay (Paul) Dees; cherished grandmother of Carolyn (Ron) Bond, Corlyne (Andrew) Mulder, Kristine (Jamey) Smith, Kathryn Fisher, Julie (Andrew) Cudney, Bethany (David) Guthrie, Marc (Priscilla) Liebenthal and David (Laci) Dees; proud great grandmother of 16; dear sister of the late Geraldine (the late Harold) Petty and the late Lyman (the late Arlene) Bonner; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is on Saturday, July 29 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at Roselle United Methodist Church, 206 Rush Street, Roselle. Interment will be at Millburn Cemetery, Old Mill Creek. Flowers may be sent to the church or memorials made to the Roselle United Methodist Church at www.roselleumc.org.
