Barbara “Barb” Perry ( Nee’ Doubleday), 81, of Carol Stream, died Saturday, August 19, 2017. Born December 16, 1935 in Rock County, Wisconsin. Barb in her earlier years lived in Lindenwood, Il and graduated from Rochelle High School. She then became a stewardess with American Airlines where she met her husband. After her marriage, she lived in Bloomingdale, IL where she worked as an assistant village clerk, was active in the garden club where she served a term as President., and volunteered as a counselor at the Pregnancy Information Center in Schaumburg. Later she moved to Oswego, Il to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She managed the family’s business office and served as a counselor at the Aurora Pregnancy Information Center. Her life was centered around serving the Lord. For over 35 years she was an Advocate for children through Compassion International. With this ministry she travelled to Guatemala, Ecuador, and Bolivia to support and encourage the children she sponsored. She was also an audio-visual coordinator for Answers in Genesis and promoted their Creation Museum and Ark Encounter ministries. She served her church as a Stephen Minister, a Deacon, and as a teaching assistant in a program for neighborhood children. Barb loved to travel and in addition to her travels with Compassion International, traveled to Alaska, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, the Orient, Russia, Europe, and 3 times to Israel. Barb will be missed by her family, and friends. Beloved wife of Robert for over 59years, mother of Steven, Kathleen, and Sandra; loving daughter of the late Wilson and Dorothy Doubleday,and her stepfather Charles Strang; cherished sister of Wilma, Phillip and Marilyn; many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, In lieu of flowers, donations to Compassion International, Lamb & Lion Ministries, or the Pregnancy Information Center of Aurora will be appreciated. Graveside services will be held Tuesday 8/22/2017 and a memorial service will be planned in the future.
