Barbara Ann Burke (nee Wick)age 65; beloved wife of Thomas, mother of Timothy (Michelle) and Carolyn (Curt) Mette, went to her eternal salvation on November 4, 2013.
Barbara was born in Marshall, MN., the daughter of Edward A. and Helen A (nee Widmark) Wick. As the child of a career Air Force Officer, Barbara developed an early love of travel. Most notable, she lived in Morocco and Guam. Her passions were mathematics, computer programming and she was an accomplished seamstress. Barbara enjoyed exploring old churches and castles while her husband was stationed in the Federal Republic of Germany. She also enjoyed working as a Programmer, but her career was cut short due to a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Barbara doggedly fought the disease until her death.
She is also survived by grandsons Jack P. and Own M. Burke; her father Edward A. Wick of St. Peter, MN; siblings Scot (Fumiko) Wick of Munster, IN, Susan Wick of Waterville, MN, Gary (Brenda) Wick of LeCenter, MN, Bonnie (Scott)Hrdlichka of Maple Grove, MN and Robert Wick of St. Peter, MN.
Visitation Friday, November 8th, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, 95 S. Gilbert (at Middle St.) South Elgin. Funeral Saturday, 10:30 a.m. Burial Lakewood Memorial Park.
Donations to the Illinois Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society 525 West Monroe, Suite 900 Chicago, IL. 60661 would be appreciated.
