Audrey Irene O’Brien, age 93, of Elgin, Illinois, died on August 27, 2021. She is survived by her two children Janice Jahn and Russell Clark, III (Sue), grandchildren Merlin Jahn (Shalene), Corie Meyer (Derek), Russell Clark, IV, great-grandchildren Elyse Jahn, Hayden Jahn, Lyndi Meyer, Owen Meyer, and sister Diane Pearson (Paul) and family.
Audrey was born in Toronto, Canada on December 28, 1927, and moved to Chicago with her family in the 1940s. Audrey met her first husband, Russell Clark, II at Ravenswood Episcopal Church. They were married and had two children, Janice and Russell. Russell Clark, II died in the summer of 1960.
Audrey met George A. O’Brien, her second husband in 1962. They were married for over 50 years. George died in June 2019.
Audrey was a member of the Living Christ Lutheran Church in Hanover Park, Illinois. She was an enthusiastic roller skater and skated twice a week at the roller rinks in the area. She also loved to downhill ski and went on at least two trips out west with various ski clubs. In later years, her children joined her and the ski club on these trips. She took her last run down the mountain at age 80.
Audrey and her husband George loved to dance and were active members of the Elgin Lords and Ladies square dance club. They traveled to Russia and locally with the club.
Audrey was a very caring person and a good friend. She kept in contact with her friends and relatives no matter where they lived and always remembered their birthdays with a card or greeting.
