Audrey Guy

Audrey Lee Guy, of Hanover Park died September 10, 2013. She was 82 years old. Audrey was born November 14, 1930, the daughter of James and Esther DesRochers. On November 24, 1951 she married the late David Jarl Guy and became a Marine wife. At the end of her husband’s military service they settled in Hanover Park where Audrey lived for 50 years. The house was also home to her identical twin sister, Carol, and her late husband Richard Crain. There they raised 7 boys together. David (Kimberly), Larry (Kathy), Peter, and the late Jeffery Guy along with Richard (Lawanda), Tim, and Phil (Sandy) Crain. They often gave their mothers more trouble than they could handle but it was a home full of love and devotion.

Her passing is being mourned by nephew Stephen (Judy) Guy, Daughter-in-law Gail Guy, Grandchildren Joshua (Erica), Brian, Jacob, Jordan (Michele), Aslin (Joseph), Jonathan (Jennifer), Collin, Larry Jr. (Melissa), Felicia, Great-grandchildren Louisa, Miles, Kailyn, Tiernan, Deaclan, Kaiden, Elyse, Jaycee, and Kody.

Those left behind have taken strength in the knowledge that the loved ones that went before her, including her brother Don (Ann) and sister Virginia “Peaches” (Howard) Carlson, were there in the end to lead her home.

Audrey used her last days to continue teaching the virtues that she held dear: First and foremost her faith, followed by great strength, determination, compassion, humility and love. Hospital personnel would regularly remark on what an amazing or wonderful family Audrey had. The amazing and wonderful thing was the woman herself. She had taught her family well.

The celebration of Audrey’s life will take place at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. in Streamwood, IL on Monday, September 16 from 3pm to 9pm. On Tuesday, September 17 at 9:15am, final prayers will be said at the funeral home before the procession to St. Ansgar’s Catholic Church in Hanover Park for the 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial.
