Annie Loyola Pawlus nee Spencer of Bartlett, Illinois; beloved wife of the late Jan; loving mother of Krystyna, Maria (Stan Dobek), Janine (Irek Kowalczyk), George, and Edward (Ursula); cherished grandmother of Misia, Justin, Alex, Marc, Monica, Danny and Ian; dear sister of Henry Spencer, Mary (Jack) Meares, Denis and the late Joe, Willie, Dick, Cyril (Teresa); daughter of Richard and Julia Spencer nee Murphy. Annie was born in Thornhill, County Cork, Ireland in 1921. She completed her nurse's training in London in 1945, married Jan in 1950 and immigrated to the U.S. in 1955. She worked as a nurse at Forkosh Memorial Hospital. From October 1974 until October 1991, she was a nurse at Chicago Read Mental Health Center. She was very a skilled nurse with great compassion and a wonderful role model for her children. She dearly loved her friends and family and was very proud of her children, who loved and admired her greatly. She was a loving grandmother and “playmate” to her grandchildren. Visitation on Sunday from 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.), Bartlett, IL. Funeral Monday 9:15 a.m. to St. Peter Damian Church. Mass 10:00 a.m. Internment Maryhill. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Polish Scouting Organization of Illinois, Camp Norwid Fund, 6434 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634 would be appreciated.
