Andreas Liebmann, a beloved father, Opa and cherished member of the Bloomingdale, IL community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on Friday, February 24, 1939, and lived a life full of love, dedication, and adventure.
Andreas immigrated to the United States at the age of 17, a journey that marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life. Proud to become a U.S. citizen, he carried the values of hard work and dedication throughout his career. For over 50 years, Andreas honed his skills as a bricklayer, leaving a lasting legacy in the structures he helped build and the people he worked alongside.
He was a man of many interests and could often be found snowmobiling or fishing, hobbies that fulfilled his love for the outdoors. A true handyman at heart, Andreas was always ready to lend a hand, fix a problem, or create something out of nothing. His greatest joy, however, came from his role as "Opa" to his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored.
Andreas is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Sophie, and his sister, Katie Hack. He leaves behind a loving family, including his children Andy (Julie) Liebmann, Linda (Michael) Schmehil, and Christina (Christopher) Kilian. He was a proud opa to Brian (Daniela Solis) Schmehil, Christopher (Devika Malhotra) Schmehil, Ashley (Jeffrey) Garibay, Nicole Liebmann, Andrew Liebmann, Morgan Kilian, Vanessa Kilian, and Brooke Kilian; and a treasured great-opa to Audrey Liebmann, Kassidy Hanley, Caroline Garibay, and Arlo Garibay. Andreas is also survived by his brother, John Liebman, who shared in many of his life's adventures.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 333 S. Roselle Rd. Roselle, Illinois, on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Memorial Service at 6:00 pm, offering family and friends the opportunity to honor Andreas's life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, https://www.alz.org/get-involved-now/donate in memory of Andreas's profound and enduring spirit.
Andreas Liebmann's life was a testament to resilience, love, and the powerful bonds of family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
