Prayers for Alyce Mary McGowan, nee O'Brien, 90, will be said Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.) Streamwood / Schaumburg, proceeding to St. John the Evangelist Church, Streamwood. Mass 9:30 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery, Winfield. Visitation Monday 3:00- 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Born Feb. 28, 1920, in Detroit Mi., she passed away peacefully Thursday April 1, 2010 at Brighton Gardens of St. Charles. Alyce was the beloved wife for more than 60 years of the Valentine B. McGowan and togehter they loved to travel and were involved in the RCIA Ministry at their local church. After growing up in Chicago, she and Val raised their family in Villa Park, Downers Grove and Streamwood. She loved her flower gardens and was very active in the DuPage Girl Scout Council, leading girls and training leaders. She is survived by her loving children, Patricia (John) Fehlandt, Robert (Nancy) and Philip (Peggy); 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She also shared a strong bond with her sisters, Marge (late Alois) Vlasicak, Frances (late William) McIntosh and Anne (late Edward) Hamilton.
