Allen E. Thilk, a beloved father, brother, significant other, and resident of Hanover Park since 1983, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the age of 83.
Born on Friday, January 22, 1943, Allen lived a rich and fulfilling life steeped in faith, family, and service to his country. He served in the United States Army and carried the values of discipline and integrity into every facet of his life. Allen was renowned for his love of cooking and sharing meals with his loved ones, celebrating both the calm and the chaos of family gatherings.
Allen is lovingly survived by his significant other, Sally Hover; his devoted children: David, Kim, Allen Jr., Steven, Issac, Helen, Shaun, Yvonne, Tina, Matthew, and Jeremy; 19 cherished grandchildren; and 4 adorable great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother John and his sister-in-law Laurie. Allen was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda, his parents, Allen and Dorothy, and his brother Ed.
His memory will be honored with visitation services held at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory of Bartlett, Illinois, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On the following day, Friday, August 7, 2026, there will be a visitation service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bartlett, Illinois. A Celebration of Life ceremony will commence at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Allen will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin, Illinois, following the services.
Allen’s legacy is marked by his unwavering faith, dedication to his church community, and an extraordinary talent for bringing people together through his culinary delights.
In lieu of flowers, and in accordance with Allen’s lifelong dedication to his church and community, the family kindly requests that any memorial contributions be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Allen E. Thilk will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace and be joyously reunited with those who have gone before him.
