On Thursday, he will be lying in state from 9:00a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church 2505 Helm Rd. Carpentersville, IL 60110-1305. Committal services will be at 1:30p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Born January 25, 1924 in Chicago, Allan died Sunday, April 15, 2012.

During World War II, he proudly served in the Navy as a radioman 2/c in the Pacific Theater. Following his military service, he worked at US Steel Gary, Ind., as bricklayer and most fondly for 22 years with American Airlines and the Transport Workers of America Union Local 512.

As a member of America's "Greatest Generation," he grew up during the Great Depression, served the nation during World War II, worked hard for many years, raised a family and enjoyed a long relaxing retirement. A 1942 graduate of Catholic Central High School in Hammond, Ind., he enjoyed return trips to the Hammond/Gary area and particularly loved the Eagle River Wisconsin area.

He enjoyed a variety of hobbies including model airplane building/flying, antique automobile restoration, snowmobile riding and canoeing. He enjoyed many special times with his grandchildren. He was also a member for many years of Faith Lutheran Church in Carpentersville, Ill.

He was the beloved husband of 53 years of Phyllis (nee Elder); loving father of Jill (Lawrence) Kempf of Carpentersville and Sarah (William) Burke of Streamwood; cherished grandfather of Jess Andrew and Jakob Alan Kempf, Brenna Elizabeth and Kaylynn Reese Burke; honorary grandfather of Christine and Angela Costantino; dear brother of the late William, Bernard (the late Jo Ellen), Gerald (the late Sally) and Richard; brother-in-law of Stephanie Breese; cherished son of the late William Stephen and Anna Louise Breese (nee Olscheske); and uncle of many loving nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Pasor Mark Frusti and his caregiver, Frankie Barton, for all your support.

Donations made to the church would be appreciated.
