Alisa Kane

August 18, 1962 — October 27, 2024

Lisa passed away peacefully in her home on October 27, 2024, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by those who loved her dearly. She was 62 years old. Lisa was born on August 18, 1962, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, daughter to the late Leonard and Patricia Cox. She grew up in Hoffman Estates, IL, and spent much of her childhood in the Chicago-Bridgeport neighborhood, where her grandma Billy, aunts, and uncles lived.

In May of 1981, Lisa married Bill Kane; they met during their high school senior year working at K-Mart in Hoffman Estates, IL. It was love at first sight. For the next 45 years, they created a lifelong, beautiful partnership that included raising their daughter, Tricia Anne. After their wedding, Bill joined the US Air Force; Lisa and Bill were stationed in Alaska, where Tricia Anne was born, New Jersey, and Texas, including a year Lisa and Tricia lived by themselves while Bill was stationed in Korea and California. After retirement from the military, they moved back to Illinois.

Lisa's greatest joy was being Tricia's mom and Bill's wife—and sharing life experiences together. Lisa took great pride in her home and her beliefs. She was virtuous, always doing the right thing with kindness in her heart. Lisa loved challenging and being challenged, especially by her husband, Billy. Their family time together, cozy nights on the couch, and finding laughter every step of the way. She loved murder mysteries, gardening, sharing wisdom, adding love to every crafty Christmas ornament she made, and was a huge fan of the NY Mets (once Cubs fan turned Mets). Lisa welcomed opportunities to spend time with her entire family—annual summer pool parties, baseball games, road trips, cooking together, holidays—Christmas being her favorite.

A 25-year career in loss prevention and due to several military moves, she worked for many retail companies, including the Military Base Exchange, JC Penney, Target, Mervyns, Marshall Fields, K-Mart, and Kohls. She loved the excitement of her profession, where she made many lifelong friends.

Lisa is survived by her adoring husband, Bill, and beloved daughter, Tricia Anne and Mike Burke; siblings Sandy and John Coloe; Marci and Bruce Grenda; Chris Kane and Diane Merritt; Tom and Cindy Kane; cherished nieces and nephews, Tim, Tom, Nick, Brandon, Lilly, Collin, John, Dillon, Dan, Erin, Annie, and Paula; aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her treasured parents, Len and Pat Cox, her sister Laurie, and her much loved parents-in-law, Bill and Garnet Kane.

Celebration of Life will be Sunday, November 10th, 2024, from 2-5PM, at The Quarry, 5517 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
