Edwin "Al" Miller, 68, of Elgin; loving husband of Mary; beloved dad of Jesse Miller (Sarah), Adam Miller (Denise), Kara Miller, Lauren Miller, Lindsay (Alex) Dingmann, Lucas Miller and Aimee Trammell; cherished grandpa of Nora and Samuel Miller, Elizabeth, Bobby and Joey Deaton, Louisa, Zachary and Adrian Dingmann; dear brother of Sherry Brussaly and Terry Miller and adored son of the late Edwin, Sr. (Marilyn).
Al was born in St Louis, Missouri and grew up in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He was a graduate of
Crystal Lake Central High School and attended Valparaiso University on a full football
scholarship. While at Valpo he met the love of his life, Mary. They were married in 1978
and were blessed with seven children.
If you knew Al, you knew he was a rabid St Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He loved the Redbirds
and made sure to pass that legacy on to his kids. He was a great dancer, and listening to rock
and roll as well as worship music lifted his soul through good times as well as difficult ones.
But first and foremost, Al passionately loved God and His Word and His people. It was his
greatest joy to share the power of the gospel to transform lives with anyone who was privileged
to know him. He had a kind and generous heart and his wife and children and grandchildren
were the light of his life.
On September 17, 2022, Al ran full speed to meet Jesus face to face. To say he will be missed
would be an understatement. But we know he would encourage us to let God meet all our
needs in his absence.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
2 Timothy 4:7
Well done, good and faithful servant.
